You probably have a missing driver, go to your control panel, click on system, then device manager. First check if you have any devices with a question mark or x on them. If so this is probably causing your problem. If not, go into each device listed and see if you have any IRQ conflicts, if so, change to an unused IRQ and test.

If still hanging, go into your video card driver and disable IRQ settings.

Run a test on your Hard Drive and memory. Not a quick test download a program that does an extensive test.

Windows 98 is not setup to run dual processors. You will need NT to do this. This is what is causing your hangups.

check your acceleration..if to high or to low pc will hang...when u formatted did u partition it and make them fat32 b for u ran c:\\format? u should do that to see if any bad sectors are corupting it..do u have an easy bios floppy with your harddrive?..u can disable easy bios in your bios if u have the floppy easy bios..we had to do that cause our version of dos was giving an error saying it was wrong..just disable or uninstall the easy bios that came with the hard drive if u got one

in the start menu.. click "run", and type in "msconfig".. a window will open.. click on the selective starup tab.. this tabe will show you all the programs that windows is trying to load at startup... try disabling them one at a time to see if it solves your problem.. might take a while becuse you have to reboot after each try.. then when you find the program thats causing you computer to hang.. disable it or uninstall it..

good luck
