System Hangs

I am using windows 98se on 8.1 GB HD woth 128 MB RAM. While working on windows with any application it just hangs up after some time I tried reinstalling the operating system. What might be the problem ?

Actually the HDD of this system wa scrashed some days before but I changed the hard disk and put other one from other system.

What is the problem and how to solve it ?
