System Hangs in W2K

by qballrail . Updated 24 years, 7 months ago

Recently, I purchased an ABit KT7A-RAID mobo with AMD Athlon 900Mhz proc, 256M PC 133 RAM. Assembled it into my system with existing 4G WD HDD, Yamaha 4x4x16 burner, purchased a Creative 52X CD-ROM drive and Maxtor 40G HDD for storage.

Both drives are on the separate onboard raid controllers as masters, running W2K on the 4G and am experiencing occasional hangs. At first I figured it was the Western Digital 40G causing the hangs, but they’ve since returned, although not as frequently. Recently moved my page file to the 40G drive after discovering my 4G timed out in a paging operation. System does not get hot, according to the hardware monitor. Hangs occur when on the Net, using news reader or if my son is playing online games.

Iknow for striping or mirroring, identical drives are required, however, I’m not using the extra controller for that purpose. Could this be a Windows issue or a drive or (god forbid) a bad mobo? Any help would be appreciated.
