System lock-ups and failures (Netware 4.

We have just migrated from a Netware 4.11 network to NT 4.0. We have been experiencing client side (Win95/9 lock-ups when our users try to access their shares. Specifically, these lock-ups occurr when the user is trying to access them through Office97/98 apps - Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. After rebooting they are able to reconnect but invariably lock-up again. Any recommendations or suggestions?

Just a thought,
On the client computers, what is the frame type set to. If it is still on 802.3 then change it to Auto.

Thanks for your input. We have the frame type set to auto and we still seem to experience some problems. I'm hoping that once we pull the Netware servers off the network that by eliminating their SAP chatter we'll see some better connectivity. Thanks again.

I had this same problem. If you are no longer using the Novell server, remove the Novell Client and IPX/SPX. The lock ups are cuased by the client trying to find the server. When you reboot, you resetting the paging clock for the client.Also check that in your migration all the appropriate permissions were added to the files and folders. Alot of times Novell permissions are higher than the NT permissions.
This will also cause lock ups when the client is trying to access a file and NT doesn't understand the permissions.
