system recovery cd's don't support model

By Casemaker ·
Hi,
Last year I was fixing a HP Pavilion A350n in my shop. I needed to replace the hdd. The hp did not come with recovery disks and the customer did not make them with the application recovery disk maker. I ordered disks from hp and they worked fine.
The computer has come in again because of viruses and ad,spy, mal ware. I went to use the disks and get this error. These system recovery cd's do not support this hp pc model. I contacted hp by mail and they said to del partition and create new then format and boot with cd in drive. I am still getting the message. Now they say go to an authorized repair center. Just another way the big box maker screws you with the recovery cd's. can anyone help.

When customers either don't have restore CDs or restore CDs are damaged (think they use them for Frisbees), I do a clean install of Windows, download any drivers not covered by Windows, and replace software as best I can. After all is back working, usually Ghost hard disk to CDs or DVD for the next time.

However, you should be able to remove malware and keep installed software.

The situation here is that I ordered new recovery disks last years after a hdd failure and they worked fine. Now they will not.

Research suggest that there is a program on the disk that only allows it to be loaded once on a machine

Have you tried using a lincensed copy of your operating system to load on machine then download all drivers, this may or may not solve the problem then you will have to take the HP suggestion
Good Luck

Using another os will cost more money for the client. Trying to avoid this path.

If the error message does appear, the BIOS is either missing a required character string or has become corrupted.

Respectfully, It seems that all I get are thoughts and no resolutions. Please, I need resolutions.

Are you absolutely sure that you are working with the right hardware?, no changes have been made inside the computer?, not talking about HD or RAM, but CPU and others; I've seen something like this before.
