How do I fix System Restore, when it won’t work? I tried to set a restore point using the System Tools menu and got an error box pop up. When I go to access the System Restore tab from Control Panel | System Properties, I get a pop up error box titled “RUNDLL”, with an exception error message. It states that an exception occurred trying to run “C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_Run.DLL”C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysdm.cpl”,system”.
I am running Win XP Pro SP2.
