System runs slow

I have several Dell L 500c’s that are
on a novell network.

One of the systems runs very slow while the others
seem to run ok.

I have increased this machines memory to 256 Meg.

No improvement has been noticed.

It also seems now that when I am running
Office2000 and I open Excel, then I go to an
excel file on the server, it takes a long time to
open the file, and once open it progressively
responds to mouse movement slower and slower going
from field to field.
