My community is reviewing a proposal from AT&T for a 10mbit fiber line that would feed our 802.11 wireless network. We currently use a T-1 feed that slows quickly once we have too many users signed on. I have been unable to find a published explanation of the throughput differences between a 1.5mb T-1 line and a 10mb fiber line. Even the AT&T engineer can’t explain the difference. It’s more than just the difference between 1.5 and 10, isn’t it?
If someone has knowledge of a “white paper” on this I would appreciate a direction to it. I will have to explain these differences to my community board in order to get funding for the increase in the AT%T costs.
