After having dealt with a wide variety of technicians within the networking and telecommunications fields, I have found that the knowledge level varies tremendously. Technical writers, as evidenced by the products produced, also vary greatly. Whenselecting a contractor the organization should take into consideration the target audience, and ensure thier choice of writer can target that audience effectively as well. Otherwise, the documentation is not a valuable a marketing and technical tool as it could be.
