Task bar is double height.

By SCrow ·
One of my users has a Win98 task bar that is double the normal height. I can't drag it smaller. I can make it bigger but not smaller than that extra size. This seemed to start when the user had accidentally dragged the bar to the side of the screen. There is usually only one app being used, so its not filling up with those.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Steve

I dont know how long ago this happened but you can run scanreg /restore to go back to an earlier registry that has the normal taskbar.

This problem happened several months ago, how far back do the registry backups go? some software has been installed since this happened so I'm hesistant to try this.

What about just running window setup again?

Thanks,
Steve

Hey Steve!

I had the same problem before with one of my users - here's what I ended up doing:

1. First, I dragged the Taskbar to the top of the screen and tried to make it smaller. (No luck.)
2. Then I dragged it to both sides and repeated the process. (Again, strike out.)
3. Finally, I put it back at the bottom, and enable the "Auto-Hide" option in the Taskbar and Start Menu options. I noticed it went back to the normal height at this point, so then I removed the Auto-Hide feature. It was back to normal!

I do hope this helps - let me know if you have questions. adrian@isc-unlimited.com

Sorry for the delay, I did try the autohide thing, but it never changed the task bar.

I guess I'll have to reload windows.

Thanks,
Steve
