Task switching delay

By adrian ·
When running full-screen DOS windows under 98/SE/ME or CMD windows under NT/XP, there is a 2-second delay when switching from one window to another with ALT/TAB or a hot-key. This is designed so that video monitors can re-stabilise at the new refresh frequency. However with TFT monitors no delay is actually required. How can the delay be removed to aid user reactivity ? Is this an undocumented registry setting, or is there a patch in the video driver ?

I have heard about, and used, countless Registry settings. I have tools that automate changing these Registry tweaks (Xteq, for example, is a good one for this type of stuff). And I have written, in these forums, of hundreds of these settings.
And I have never heard of a setting for this. Plus, I have to ask, why is the 2 second delay from going to full screen CMD mode to normal window mode an issue? Even I have 2 seconds to spare as it switches back and forth!

It's a big issue for users in retail EPOS applications.
