I’ve been running into some disturbing problems related to networking lately.
On 4 or 5 2k systems including one 2k server and one XP system i’m seeing network cards Loosing functionality.
Issue 1: 2k server 2 pci 3com cards, server hit with spike after rebuilding system had to re-install over old setup, all that went fine. If you edit registry you see all the old server setup lines and the new install setup lines (quite interesting really), bottom line networking would not work to save my life added realtek cards and it worked fine. 3com cards work fine in 98 test box. tried unistalling and redoing networking serveral times over but could not get 3com card to behave.
Issue 2: setup 2k pro, was on a domain, changed back to work group status. cant get any network sharing done with out maping directly to that machines ip, ie: map e: //2kpro/share no longer works but map e://192.168.0.8/share does work. Really screwy, Tried a number of things but no luck.
