Tech Jobs from Home

by kwells . Updated 17 years, 4 months ago

In this current day of age where location is nothing to be concerned with, I wonder how far we are away from the mainstream tech jobs being home based.

At my current position, I work in the IT department, but we support programmers and a database administrator. The programmers can certainly work from home, and the database administrator does already.

So, what is holding companies back from allowing workers to work from home. Of course, all mission allowing, but programmers can program just as well at home as if they were at work.

For me personally, the ability to work from home would be very appealing, of course coming into the office once a month or so, or as needed.

But how far away from this are we, and what’s the hold up? Legacy-minded managers that don’t want to accept this new concept?
