Tech Perspective:Wireless e-mail anxiety

By techperspective ·
Although Gartner maintains that wireless e-mail is the first step to essential mobile systems for enterprises, this technology still has problems that need to be ironed out. What kinds of problems have you encountered with wireless e-mail? Have you compiled a list of criteria for adopting this technology? What types of wireless e-mail devices does your network support? You can read the related Gartner article, which will be posted 3 A.M. Monday, at

Tech Perspective:Wireless e-mail anxiety

The kinds of problems I have encountered with wireless e-mail is length of time for delivery. I have PalmPilots and Text Pagers, and SMS capable phones that I message with network alerts. So far SMS to a BIGBRICK phone has the least latency, but I fear it's due to the small subscriber base and not the technology. Wireless devices popularity appears directly porpotional to delivery times. Maybe I need to look at serving to
the little wappers myself. :-}
