Technology of Life

by Professor M In reply to Technology of Life

Being involved in technology for over 50 years (don't believe I wrote that and that's a conservative estimate!) especially problem solving, I have come across truths that are incontravertable and finite.  When a machine malfuntions, you can't use counseling techniques to demonstrate to it the error of its ways.  You must find the cause of the problem which may not be obvious at first, but caused by a definite or even intermittent malfunction.  In a customer's office, it is most imperative that the solution be arrived at with great dispatch if one is to survive in that environment.  After years of this activity, one develops an expertise not only in the specifc hardware serviced, but in the activity itself.  This is necessary since products and technology are constantly evolving and changing.  The only constant then is the perfection of the technique.  What does this have to do with life?  Stand by and we will get there.
