TechRepublic is one of the useless site, how many of you agree?

By joshihyd ·
I posed a technical question on 3/01/08. But no one has replied either through the forum or sent a mail to my e-mail. Where as it is claimed that most of the talented members will reply to the questions asked. That's how I came to this conclusion. How many of you agree?.

Considering that it is January

I fail to see how you posted a question two months in the future. We haven't GOTTEN to 3/01/08 yet.

I have no idea if I saw your question or not. But I will remind you that anyone here who answers a question is taking their own time to do so. This is a volunteer effort and there is no guarantee.

A lot depends on the time of day that you post. If there is a lot of activity on the site, your question may well fall off the front page before it is seen by a person with expertise in your problem area.

If you post a question and you see that it has fallen off the front page, simply edit your question, add the line "Edit to bump" to the bottom and try again. And you may need to do that several times.

Most folks won't send you a peer message unless they know you. The reason is that their email address will be revealed to you. Most prefer to post their responses to the board unless you both agree to take a discussion off line.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Try again.

The format of the date is DD/MM/YYYY. There are only a few countries that use the format we do MM/DD/YYYY (I had to look it up to see how few do use it! I was surprised!). The rest of the world uses the DD/MM/YYYY format. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_date

Whiners

by Kjell_Andorsen In reply to TechRepublic is one of th ...

Look, this is a community forum, none of the members here are paid or receive any kind of compensation for helping others. Most of us reply to questions because we like helping other people out and sharing our knowledge.

That being said, there are questions that go unanswered. Sometimes questions just get buried under a flood of new posts, sometimes the question is obscure or poorly worded. Sometimes the people who may know the answer just overlook it. It happens.

RIght now you're coming off as whiny and frankly pretty rude. If your question hasn't been answered yet, try bumping it to the top by replying to it. This might give people a chance too look it over again and you might get an answer.

Coming in here and insulting the members of the forum by calling the forum worthless is at best just going to generate ill-will towards you.

Some things you need to keep in mind;
Is the question worded in a fashion that is easy to respond to?
Is there anyone online at the time who can respond to it?
Did anyone see the question or did it get pushed down the list due to high volume of questions at the time?

I've used this site many times to ask for additional help over the years and had good luck. There have been times when I've stumped everyone here but the problem even stumped Microsoft so I didn't feel bad about it.

Don't just give up. Maybe you just stumped us all.

"I've used this site many times to ask for additional help over the years and had good luck. There have been times when I've stumped everyone here but the problem even stumped Microsoft so I didn't feel bad about it."

Stumping Microsoft isn't an accomplishment- it's inevitable.

If anyone should get uppity, I should.

I posted a question yesterday, and bumped it because it fell off the bottom, and no-one has answered it.

I even posted one on 04/04/2007, and alas, no reply

Maybe I should agree with him? ;\
And get mad at all you slackers!!! X-(

Don't get mad, get even :-)

Post a silly question about password cracking and watch how quickly everyone jumps on it and flames you. You'll certainly get attention, but not the kind you're looking for. :^0
