Techrepublic seems to be

Sliding down from what it was. There are more just chat questions and less tech questions. There seems to be more adds and links to white papers and less links to real questions.
I was looking at new posts and did not even see one that was worht posting to. Most of the posts were old and the new posts were silly or repost from older stuff.
This is a technology web site is it not? Why do we alow spam, hacker posts and just non IT posts?
I can see new people wanting to know how to do things but not people who want to know how to fix what is love or other things.
I am an old IT person and they need to fix their own problems.

If you need a tech discussion

Sorry clyde

by zlitocook In reply to If you need a tech discus ...

But there have been allot of good people who have gone to other websites for answers. It seems that the new techrepublic/cnet only wants the new people.
I have been around for awhile and did like the site but with the new site and links it is just harder to get around.
But if you do not need experienced people to help others that is ok with me.
I would like to start a discustion about people who think they are better then others.

you missed the point

If everyone sits back waiting for a good tech discussion, there will never be any, right?

Someone has to start it.

So you're an IT guy and you can't find a tech discussion in here?

by drowningnotwaving In reply to Techrepublic seems to be

Let me help ...

Press the page down button on your keyboard and move your eyes to the right side of the screen. Select any topic. Use the mouse thingy. Press a button. If first one doesn't work use other one.

Phew. Good deed for the day. Can I please get a number now??

Two catagories Discussion and Questions

by mjd420nova In reply to Techrepublic seems to be

If you just feel like pounding the keyboard and venting - - go to discussions. If you have a question or are willing to help answer others pressing questions - - go to Questions. It has kind of divided things, but it's only a tab away from Newest catagory. Now if we could get rid of the spammers and scams. Some get left for days over the weekends until someone jerks it.

Yep

Yeah, the "Questions" tab on the Forums door is the place to go if you don't want to see anything off-topic.

Also, don't forget, we're coming off of a long holiday when many people were off work. It takes time for things to ramp back up.

As for the spam issue, we are working on it. We should have a deterrent in place (which won't affect valid members at all) late next week (hopefully).
