TechRepublic URL

By ptownmack ·
I use Mozilla Firefox primarilly as my Web Browser. I was wondering why the "SpoofStick" extension identifies your URL as com.com? Are you somehow concealing your actual address, and if so, is this something that can be done to prevent hacking attacks?....

It probably becuase the site is hosted by cnet.com and so the address is not techrepublic.cnet.com has the alias Aliases as techrepublic.com.com the address is not concealed just aliased.

No Aliasing a name can not prevent hacking attacks.

Firewall, spyware/adware reomval/detection, antivirus, security updates and an account with out admin rights can prevent hacking attacks.

To conceal your self from outside users on the net you should also use a proxy.
