Tell me the best path to learn Oracle/NT

By toddrschultz ·
I want to know the best path to learn Oracle and NT. I am familiar with Novell, and Windows 2000/NT, but not enough to become certified. Should I go to School, speciality classes, learn through a company. I am in an area not fortified with a solid infrastructure to develop strong computer technology. I just need to know the best path possible in the shortest time available.

Oracle specifically

by ICE-tech In reply to Tell me the best path to ...

The Oracle Certification Track is NOT easy. I was going to schedule one class a month (across 5 months) and take the tests at the end. I had to back up and regroup. One of the main things you need is a copy of Oracle to "play" with. Unless you are a memorization genius and a master at test taking you will most likely not pass the exams.

One good thing about the actual track is that the books are supplied directly from Oracle. So regardless of who you get the training through an Oracle certified trainer will be teaching the class. They are very strict at who can and cannot be a certified trainer. Unlike Microsoft, if you wish to be a trainer you have to pass the tests (obviously) and then go through a series of interviews at Oracle Headquarters before you are set out upon unsuspecting students. As long as there isn't a shift in their practices, someone who does get Oracle certification will actually know what they are doing. Unlike paper CNE's, CNA's and MCSE's.
