Recently installed VPN on this Windows 2000 Pro machine. Installed the host file for telnet in the system32/drivers/etc file. After the user calls his ISP, starts VPN and signs in, he starts the terminal emmulator TELNET and Telnet can not connect.

If you have a firewall, which you should, it may not be allowing inbound telnet connections. The other thing would be whether the Telnet service is started on the answering machine. Check your log files on both ends and any firewall to see where theproblem is, then you can troubleshoot from there.

Telnet worked ok throught the dialup modem before VPN was installed. Is it possible that the wrong version of VPN was installed. We have a WIN 95/98/ME version and a Win 2000/XP version.
