Temporary local admin log on for remote users

By focuswrckrakow ·
Quite a while ago, I worked with a piece of software which allowed end users to login to a local admin account of their machine by logging into a specific account with a pre-set password, and then getting prompted to enter a key provided to them by the help desk in order to complete the log in. The user would see a set of 16 digits, provide them to the help desk tech, and the tech would run it through a simple encoder/decoder. The tech would return to the user with the specific key for their machine, which would match the random key generated when they attempted to log on. Does anyone know what something like this would be called? (It may have been something custom-made, not sure)
