A relative of mine has a small business and who has lost their license codes for their terminal server CALS but wants to now if its possible to transfer the CALs from one terminal server (that is failing – critical at the moment) to a new one they are currently building. It is a Windows 2003 server.
They have about 40 TS CALs and as they are a smaller business on a tight budget in this economy, cannot afford to buy new ones. In addition, they have none of the codes for their other products either so anything they need to transfer … (assuming all were kept in the same place and all is gone) — what’s the best way to get those codes from their server. Their old IT guy is unavailable (moved with no forwarding address or telephone number) so they are completely lost and understandably worried/upset.
Would the clearinghouse be able to get them that information? How would they prove they are who they are? This has been working for years now and obviously, it is at a critical stage in their business.
Is it possible to obtain the license codes from the registries? How to do so?
Is there software that can pull license keys from a terminal server? I know there are ones that do it for other software on one’s machine.
Please advise what can be done. Thanks so much in advance for your time.
