Terminal Server Pinting Problem

By richalan ·
We have a remote office that connects remotely to our Windows 2003 server. All of the printers work fine except for one, a Sharp AR-M237. I've installed the same driver (pcl6) on both the server and the client and it shows up in the list of printers, but it won't print. While trying to print, it shows up in the queue for a couple of seconds and then deletes it.

The client is using XP SP3 and the printer is connected by usb. Other printers in the office are connected by usb as well with no problems.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Just to clarify

Is this printer at the remote site setup on the server, or is it a local printer for a user at the remote site?

How is it connected to the network (shared on a PC?)

Unless I am missing something, each user at the remote site would be sending their print traffic over the WAN to the server, which then sends it back over the WAN.

In the workstation, for example, there are settings which allow you to shutoff the print spooler (Advanced > print directly to printer), and there are settings that change the way print jobs are spooled (Advanced > start printing after last page is spooled)

Terminal Server Pinting Problem

by richalan In reply to Just to clarify

The printer is set up as a local printer at the remote site, connected by usb. I'm not sure if it is shared with the network or not, I'll have to find out.

The settings for the workstation are set to the defaults. "Print directly to the printer" is not checked and neither is the "Start printer after last page is spooled".

Thank you for your response.
