I’ll have to presume a lot but here goes. I figure you’re running a current OS like 2000 or XP on the client and therefore you are running the RDP client vs the old Terminal Services Client. One is just the replacement for the other.

So presuming you’re using RDP client you can make the change under Options – Display. Now if that doesn’t have any affect you will have to look at the Terminal server side to see if it is restricting the client and what the servers display is set at. Client won’t go over the servers settings in either case.

If not using RDP client you should. It is built-in to XP and a download for 2000.

Yes, open up Remote Desktop Connection on the client > click on Options > click on the Display tab. There is a dropdown to increase the color spectrum up to 24 bit. Keep in mind that it can only go as high as what the client’s video driver can support.

The server is a Windows 2000 server. It’s video has the latest driver and is set at 800×600 32bit true color. Both the 2000 RDP and XP RDP clients only list color support at 256 colors. All clients video are currently set to 800×600 and either 24 bit or 32 bit true color.

Didn’t help me as I had checked those properties in both the client and ts manager to no avail. Customer has since stopped using TS so I’m closing this ?.
