Terminal Services

By kevinmcdonald ·
I am running a mixed mode windows network. I have the terminal services manager installed on my workstation (running win 2000 pro). I am able to log into all mt 2000 servers fine, but I am unsure of what I have to do to log into a Winows NT4.0 server.
Please advise
Kevin

I have a mixed windows network too.

Currently I use Terminal Services to connect to the Win 2K server and Win VNC to connect to the NT 4.0 server.

WinVNC is a free download from:

http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/winvnc.html

You can useit on the Windows 2K server too if you only want one program to use.

Are you trying to connect to a normal NT4 Server with the Win2K TS client?
That won't work.
Normal NT4Server did NOT come with Terminal Services.
You will need EITHER NT4 Terminal Server, or a 3rd party terminal services program like Metaframe from Citrix.
www.citrix.com

hope this helps

Terminal service does not come with Windows NT4. There is a special version of Terminal Services NT4. But you probably do not have that. Therefore, the above answer will be the best. VNC is free and will allow you to access the desktop of the server or workstation and operate it like you were sitting in front of the console. Best of luck
