    Terminal Services logon Wierd?

    Locked

    by simon ·

Hi all, I have a terminal services server setup and I am having problems allowing remote users logging on, even in house on the same network, I get the error the ‘local policy of this system does not allow you to log on interactivly’

I have a VPN Users group, added users to that group and though Domain Controller Security Policy allowed them to log on locally.

The administrator can log on fine, now here is the wierd thing, if I open D.C.S. Policy users can logon for a few minutes, then it’s stops!

Driving me mad, I have tried allowing VPN Users Logon access through the Domain Security Policy but still the same (not sure which policy takes precidence either).

    Any help would be appreciated.

in the D.C.S. Policy, you have to add the users in group policy to give them access to ‘log in interactivly’. In D.C.S, go to Computer Settings\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies. Look for ‘log on locally’. Add ‘autheticated users’to this group. After that, users should be able to log in successfully. The reason the Admin can already log in is because you’ll notice he’s already a part of the list here.

Fantastic, although I couldn’t see Computer Settings\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies, but I got the magic word ‘Group Policy’ so I managed to figure out what you meant ( I don’t mean to be rude 🙂 I made a Group Policy for the VPN User group then did as you said and it works a treat.

        Thank you very much
