Testing Serial Ports

By Liz Lagrotteria ·
I'm looking for an easy way to test serial/com ports on Win9x PC. I found a nice piece of shareware, "Easy Com", but the company is no longer available so it stops working after 30 days, and I can't register it.
I need to be able to test multiple pc's (testing pc's in our manufacturing plant).
I'm open to any suggestions.

Here's a link to a free tester.

(be sure to remove any spaces in the link)

You can also do a search for "serial port test" and find many more.

You need to get hold of a loop back connector as this will let you test the serial port without connecting it to a device.
