Text in winxp is scambled

By steven2657 ·
Has anyone else seen xp when booting up completely scrambles all of the text? What I mean is the text in the logon screen to the program file listings would be scrambled to the point that they look like something that you would see in the Character Map listing called WINGDINGS 3. All of the text has changed to symbols, arrows and or computer language. If any one has seen this please let me know what makes?s this happen. Thanks

Video driver

That usually occurs because of a problem with your video card drivers. See if there is a newer version of the drivers you can install.

Display properties > Appearance > Windows and Buttons

If XP text is unreadable garbage like geometric symbols (aka Wingdings) changing the Windows and Buttons choice from Windows XP Style to Windows Classis Style corrects the problem. Go to Display properties > Appearance > Windows and Buttons. Malcomb R suggested updating the video driver; that sounds like a more lasting solution.
