Text Wrap in Email Newsletter

By shah1936 ·
I edit a weekly newsletter using word and saving as text file with line breaks.
I have also tried Communicator6.4 html and text formats. The newletters published from egroups or topica do not show the format of the lines as on original text file.
The lines are broken or disjointed.
What is the reason and how to over come it without purchasing any sofware?

Text Wrap in Email Newsletter

Text is very limiting to format options. Simply because Notepad opens and saves text in ASCII (text-only) format only. To create or edit files that require formatting or are larger than 64K, use WordPad. ASCII is american standard code for information interchange. ASCII is a file format that requires no text formatting so it is transferable between different os and programs. This type of file formatt is used universally for moving information from one computer to another. Try using word pad to save your document with the file extention .doc If this does work then if you would like a better explaination of what happened then you can e-mail me at danielr@risecom.net

In Word97/2000 open your file click file, save as, and at the bottom where it says "save as type:" select text only with line breaks, and save your file with that type of format. This should correct your problem. I hope it works.

Hi - Not positive about this but ... If you enter test into a mail message with a given entry size (or other applications, such as this Answer box) and press the RETURN key to format, you will see same/similar. Rather than enter RETURN (except where you want a new paragraph), let whatever application you use enter the line wrap. The receiving application will then format at whatever line width it has. As an example, the text above was entered with no RETURN (unless I got carried away and entered one I didn't want to).

This text has specific returns at each point
where a line would have wrapped on my entry
screen. You should notice that this text has
ragged an partial, one or two words per line.
I think if you just save theWord doc as Text
(no line breaks), your newsletter should
format correctly.

May get some really odd lines in paragraph
above as I added some and then reformatted and may not have removed/added RETURNS
correctly.
