Rolex Grand-Am sports car race - '24 Hours of Daytona'

by CharlieSpencer In reply to TGIF

3:00 Saturday, coverage on Speed Channel (Dish Network 150). Over 60 cars in two different classes. Drivers from NASCAR, IRL, F1, and other series join the Grand-Am regulars. Audi, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Mazda, Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge.

The kickoff to the 2012 auto racing season in North America. There have been a few dirt track and sprint car events already, but this is usually the first to get live television coverage. A quick fix for motorsports fans with monkeys on their backs, desperate after a winter of snowmobile races and monster truck reruns, before the NASCAR season starts in three weeks.

Ahhh!! I'm feeling a "NASCAR Jones" as well!

So I may have to watch the grand am. Kind of tired of Monster Jam!

It's a bit early to bring it up,

I saw that last year,

but I didn't join in. Maybe I can this year, since I should in theory have
a bit more free time, though I must say working for myself keeps me
quite busy! I've been a NASCAR fan for years now, from way back when
Jr Johnson was winning, and The King was #43, and the most thrilling
story I can think of was Alan Kulwicki's ride to the Winston!
In the last few years, I've soured on other sports like NBA, NFL and MLB.
Our society seems infatuated with these "sports", investing tons of money
into potential players, but children that aren't so athletically gifted, but
maybe more scientifically or mathematically inclined, receive little in the
way of help for higher education. Then we, as a society, can't understand
why our kids are falling behind other societies in math and science.
But that's a discussion for another time and place!

Spent the day taking tests

by jdclyde In reply to TGIF

Greetings from the Void, someone must have left a door open because I found my way back in! :)

not bad

healing from badly torn upper/lower pecs, shoulder, and rib muscles....pinched should never try to stop a rolling back car by pulling on the door handle; I'll never say "its just a pulled muscle". I'm currently also laid off for the winter and don't really have much else to do than hang out here or surf the web when I finish up my housework for the day.

Darryl has been doing OK as well, still working hard, but I'm sure he will catch up with you himself :) .

Anyway, must run...very pleased to see you back ! :)
