If the client wants to connect two computers peer-to-peer, he needs a cross over cable. If the lient has three computers that he wants to network together, win95, win98, and winMe, then he needs to purchase a hub or switch and connect all threecomputers to a networked numbered port on the hub or switch... and he will need to setup shares.

For backing up this configuration, one of the computers will need to have a tape drive and access to all the other computers and shares. And that computer should run the backup of the data to tape each night after everyone has left.

Most tape drives come with backup software. Some of them do not work across shares. But some do. Backup software runs best from a server... and the server should hold the data being shares across the network.
