was actually received on the 26th. My wife and I were placed with a foster child.
On the 26th, we received the call about 5pm asking if we would accept a 5 year old girl just brought in to state custody. We were about to sit down for dinner with some friends with whom we were going to a basketball game later that evening. So at a frantic pace we raced across town to meet the social worker, borrow a truck from my sister-in-law and get to my mother-in-law’s house to get the bed we stored there. (They actually required that we have a bed for the child. Hmm go figure 🙂 ) It has been pretty much non-stop since.
My wife and I have been trying to have children for about 3 years. Our original plans were to have a baby and then adopt an older child. Well, we are unable to have a baby, so we are going to adopt a baby and an older child. We are working through the state for the older child and a private adoption agency for the baby.
Although we do not think this child will be available for adoption, we still think it is the best gift we could have received.
