The Change that might hurt….

by [ntc]kenyon . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I was originally a high school physics teacher who wanted a career change into the technical side of life. I landed a job at a local EDMS company as a trainer/application builder, but have found out that my job might be in jeopardy because I’m not very “billable.” It took me over 9 months to find a job that was anywhere near what I was making as a teacher. (It’s not as high as you think) I do have A+ and MCP certification with at least 6 months experience in a bunch of different OS and Third party software. I also have a Masters in Education as well.
After 6 months I feel compfortable enough to begin training people on the basics of our software, but other internal factors are keeping this option limited.
I’ve kept my options open and have updated my resume on monster and dice, but I really enjoy working for this company. I’m trying to work within the company, but I’m not hearing anything, so I sit here in panic on whether or not I’ll show up one day and find a pink slip on my desk.
What should I do? Should I start looking again with the little skills that I have? Help!
