As a student studying for my Certification for A+.
I went back to school after leaving my factory job to relocate. Currently I am recieving Unemployment benefits and going to school, there isn’t much money left at the end of the month.
As of 2 weeks ago, the cost of taking the A+ certification here in Canada was $230 Canadian dollars per test.
I do think certification is a good thing, and yes it shows you are up to date on computer technology. What bothers me is with exams being retired and new one’s emerging every few years, it is making the powerhouse IT companies richer.
I want to take my certification but in reality I do not have the money. Nor do I see having the money in the near future, which leads me to ask this question: Who will hire someone with no certification?
