The Fonts Have Changed

By thamilton ·
I have I user who recently upgraded from NT Workstation to 2000 Pro. She also upgraded from MS Office 97 to Office 2000. She has some forms that where created in MS Word 97. Some of the fonts in these forms have changed since the upgrade. Where she had bulletes that were small boxes, she now has zeros. Where she had bulletes that looked like eyes, she has letters. How do I restore the original template?

The Fonts Have Changed

by maxwell edison In reply to The Fonts Have Changed

Greetings,

This is most likely related to the Windows 2000 upgrade, not the Office upgrade.

Microsoft has addressed this issue with a release of "Font properties extension".

You can find the information and related downloads at the following Microsoft site. Cut and paste the following link into your browser (REMOVE SPACES that might have snuck in):

http://www.microsoft.com/typography/property/property.htm

Good luck,

Maxwell

This link will take you to a Microsoft article titled, "WD2000: Fonts - Part 1: General Information and Troubleshooting". (At the bottom ot the article is a link to part two.)

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q259/3/19.ASP
There are scores of issues with text fonts, both relating to your Windows 2000 upgrade AND your Word 2000 upgrade.

All of these links should guide you in the right direction depending on all your individual considerations.

I first said that this is most likely related to the Windows 2000 upgrade, not the Office upgrade. In fact, it could equally be one or the other or both.

I hope the links I provided are helpful.

(OK, I'm done.)

Best of luck,

Maxwell

Have you installed SR1/SR1a?
Also make sure that the same fonts are installed.
There's an MS article about this.
Go to technet.microsoft.com and type the following in the search box:
