in short, the not yet ratified or released GNU-GPL V3 is making a significant change in how the hobbyist supplied distros will have to comply with the source code availablity clause… they will now have to maintain a repository of sources for each version they release for no less than 3 years, the upstream repositories are no longer sufficient.
