THE GHOST HARD DRIVE

by tardbag135 . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

Although somewhat strange, I had this old wd caviar 40gb ide hdd. That my aunt had in her dell win98 machine. Sadly, somehow she actually managed to flood it with viruses on a DIAL UP connection. How sad.

Well so I got her old computer to refurbish it. I haveca wireless home network that I always use.

With no connection at all to the router, this infected hdd, when powered by a wall power adapter (to 4pin connector) managed to break the Internet connection from the router to the ISP. When this hard drive is on, no Internet. When off, Internet.

This is almost scary — computer viruses thru air LOL.

You’re probably thinking it was electromagnetic interference. But then why does it not do it with other drives of the same type? Amazingly enough when I connected if to my computer via USB adapter, it did the same thing… But as soon as I reformatted it, all those Internet problems went away.

Weird but true. Any thoughts coMments or questions are welcome. If u would like any more info, just ask.
