I’m getting some (kiosk)laptops ready for a convention my company is having. They are Dell Latitude C640’s with Windows XP installed. When I went to test the Dial-up it gave me trouble, I could get an IP but it wouldn’t negotiate with the Domain thereby not permitting access to network resources like email and network drives (client for Microsoft was enabled). I’m under a time crunch so instead of diving into troubleshoot mode, I deleted that pesky connection and created a new one. The newone works fine and it’s now the only one showing up in the connection list. However, when I log on checking the box that says “Logon using dial-up networking” the new connection is there, but right on top of it…Like an undead cyber thing…THE CONNECTION I DELETED IS STILL THERE TOO!!! (Sorry for the cornyness). I did a search in the registry for the name of the connection, the phone number, and anything that contained the words “dial-up” in it. Nothing. Can anyone tell me how to be rid of this hiding, malfuntioning Dial-up connection?
