The 'Jester' attacking WikiLeaks with the Xerxes DOS tool

By robo_dev ·
It's been reported in the news that WikiLeaks has been taken offline by a DDOS attack. However, there is a 'hacktivist' known as the 'Jester' who is using a tool he created called Xerxes. Xerxes exploits a specific Apache vulnerability to take the server offline, nothing 'distributed' about it.

There is or was a DDoS attack on Wikileaks. There have been several attacks. Also, attacks against entities which cooperated with the gov to mess with Wikileaks.

Fun wow, DoS wars.

Yep probably a good idea

To avoid paying anything with Pay Pal, Master Card or Vista for a while yet.

The Master Card and Visa I can maybe sort of understand but the Pay Pal has got me wondering.

Pay Pals excuse was that Wikileaks was doing something against Pay Pal's Policy. Why exactly did Pay Pal then accept them in the first place?

They know exactly what Wikileaks was doing long before the current Outcry and accepted the fact that they Leaked Sensitive Documents. That is their sole aim in life so why now that they are leaking something that Pay Pal may not like are they violating the Fair Usage Policy?

Seems more than Slightly Hypocritical to me.

The one thing that is certain is that those in the US Government should never have started this mess to begin with as they have to win it and they are dealing with a Medium that they can not win, in the Internet.

It's going to make things much worse for Governments World Wide when they loose and it was stupid to begin in the first place.

Let's face it, companies will take a bad guys money until it's bad PR

Once somebody in Congress asked why they were providing hosting for WL, then it was only logical that once the ship starts sinking, other wise rats start putting on their life vests as well.

Companies are more scared of CNN than they are of law enforcement or federal investigators.

And that is the funny thing here

CNN is just as bad or probably even worse than WL as they are Cheery Picking what is published on WL and using it for their own ends.

WL on the other hand a Media Site is just throwing it all out there and making no comments.

What i find amusing but maybe I'm just Perverted is that WL is bad but the rest of the Mainstream Media is OK publishing excerpts of the same thing.

If the head of WL who most likely doesn't have any direct involvement in what is released is Guilty of Publishing this Gossip what then is Rupert Murdoch?

They are both heads of Media Organizations making bulk loads of money off this material.
