The memory could not be "read"/"written"

By yuemo ·
On win 2000 pro, when I try to print something (either small or larger file) or open a word document, I would get an error like:
---
The instruction at "0x77fcb2b9" referenced memory at "0x00720070". The memory could not be "read". Click ok to terminate the program.
---
Some time "read" could be "written".

I searched MS KB. The related articles only talk about a shell32.dll fix for manipulating large file, and MS claims this is fixed on service pack. I have service pack 2, and the file version for shell32.dll is good.

Fortunately I have two PCs to work on, otherwise the problem is a big deal for me.

Thanks for all your help.

Is this ws printing to a network printer? If so, try deleting the printer and setting it up again on the ws.

I thought it was a print problem, and did try this before. It did not work.
