I am looking into implementing a 2 phase backup strategy whereby phase 1 is to backup from server disk to a big piece of SAN disk, then phase 2 is to backup from SAN to tape. This solves a number of problems including increasing speed and also increasing time available to stream onto tape.
HAs anyone implemented a similar solution?
