The Numb-ers of the Mind

Of all my tasks, there is but one that fills me with loathing and disgust. My heart is filled with tears the moment I realize I have not yet started this task and at that point, death doesn’t seem like such a bad option…
Without me, one would not see the silent degrading of systems.
I am filled with either white(and blue), yellow or red.
What am I?

Also, what tasks does everyone else find mind numbing?
