The Page Cannot Be Displayed

By guy ·
The Page Cannot be Display. This message appears in Explorer 5.0 when I visit some, but not all sites. e.g www.dcfc.com.

When viewed from other machines, the page displays fine, so its not the sits fault (for once!).

Tried deleting the Internet Cache, deleting the cookies. What should I try next?

One you may have to update the encryption setting on your browser to 128,also check to see if youare using plain text or html to view web pages. The security settings in Tools,Internet Options need to be at medium,Update the settings of java script. If all fails go bck to previous version and then reinstall IE 5.0

However, I ran your URL and got some Page Not Availables, and one hit.
To help you, what is the Title/Subject of the Web site you are trying to bring up?

I tried to get to www.dcfc.com but cannot resolve the address so the "Page Cannot be Displayed". If you have 2 PC's and one is able to access the site and the other is not you may want to check the HOSTS file in the Windows directory. There may bean entry that points to an IP address that does or does not exist. Copy the HOSTS file from the working PC to the one that is not.

It is possible that you have a Corrupted TCP/IP, Winsock2 and Dial Up Networking
Start, Find, Files or Folders
Look for Wsock32.dll
Rename any extra copies that are not in the C:\windows\system dir
Run SFC to extract New Winsock files:
Winsock.dll to C:\windows
Wsock.vxd to C:\windows\system
Wsock32.dll to C:\windows\system
Go to Control Panel=> Add Remove => Windows Setup => Communications=> Details and untick DUN.
Restart the computer and reinstall DUN... Test now.
If you have InternetBOOST '99 go to www.bonzy.com and see instructions to remove it.

as Javova said, but with one extra step - clearing out the registry.

1.Go To Control Panel,
2.CLick on Add/Remove Programs/
3. go to Windows Setup/ click on Communications/
4. click on details button
5. uncheck dial-up Networking.
6. Close panels, Click no to question to reboot.
7. Go to Run: regedit.
8. Backup your Registry
9. Open Local Machine--System--CurrentControlSet--Service--
10.Find Winsock2 and delete entry.
11. Yes to deleting folder
12. Restart Computer.
13. Go Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs
14. click on Windows Setup tab click Comunications/click on details
15. Check Dial-up Network and close. Say yes to any questions.
16. Restart Computer.

Sorry if this is rudimentary format .. I end up sending it to family way to often.

BTW, a good indicator is if you can ping the IP of the website, but access via DNS doesn't work.
