The PCs can't see in the Neighborhood

By julioairizar ·
Hi, I have a little network of Windows XP Pro SP1 PCs (3Desktops and 2 laptops just recent reformated and clean reinstalled). One of the PC have a 2 NICs, one for ADSL access and the 2nd configured as 192.168.0.1 for the network ADSL share. The ADSL service still is not installed, but anyway the others 2 PCs and laptops should see each others in the neighborhood, if each NIC of they is configured as 192.168.0.2; 3; 4...etc and using the 192.168.0.1 as gateway, Yes?. But I can't make the PC see each others and all the NICs and cables and Switch look like are working fine. Any ideas? Thanks!!

P.S.: There is not Firewalls or Antivirus installed yet in any PC and all they have the same workgroup. LMHOSTS configuration is disabled and also "Register this connection addresses in DNS" in the network PCs and laptops.
The items installed are: Client for Microsoft Network, File and Printer Sharing, QoS Packet Scheduler and TCP/IP.

ok, check the enable netbios over tcp/ip check box and see if that works.

also, check they have the same 'subne' and 'workgroup name'.
as its small use the following subnet....
255.255.255.0

then having done/checked those settings, try locating the computer by name.
use the find computer under windows explorer..my network places..right click..search for computers
once its found, normally the OS then goes on to remember it.
