It could be the type of paper you are using. Try using thicker paper e.g. 100g instead.

      Hi
The multiple page problem is caused by the rubber on the paper feed thingummy being worn, and needs to be replaced.
I’ve had several HP printers do this and replacing this part fixed it. Note these parts are the same as canon parts.

HP 5L, 6L, and 1100 printers have this problem.
HP has a free (free shipping) fix kit to stop the problem. It is the separation pad that holds the paper. The one the HP put in them get hards and lets multi pieces of paper through.
At this time I can not find the form on HP site for the fix kit. I have it at work.
you can email me at work
      glen.lyall@dot.iowa.gov
I will send it to you

      Good Luck

I checked HP site. It stated that the fix kit are not available any more.
You can buy one fix kit off e-bay
        search for “HP 6L fix”
this kit will fix both the HP 5L and 6L printers
NOTE the HP 1100 fix kit is different

        Good luck
