The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. This is what i am getting.

I will pull into my computer my SD memory card. My computer doesnt recognize it, does not pull up. That message is what happens when i go to my computer and try to pull it up.

Now... i have read that i need to update my drivers, but I cant find where to update it! And i have read that i need to run some program to recover the files. Well i downloaded photorec.exe but it wont pull up the card so i cant recover it. My problem, PLEASE CAN ANYONE SEND ME A LINK TO DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT UPDATES FOR MY DRIVER?!?! My computer is an HP and i have Windows XP. I can only find updates for vista, and sony. PLEASE HELP!!!

If this one memory card came out of a camera, put it back into the camera to see if it can read it. If it can, use the USB cord that came with the camera to plug it into the computer. You should be able to read the card that way through the camera/scanner wizard. Not all cameras format the cards so that they're readable directly from a reader in/on the computer.

One thing to consider is that stuff goes bad once in a while. It's entirely possible that either the memory card is bad or the reader is bad, or both. Try the card in a different reader and try the reader with a different memory card. You might even try the reader on a different computer, if it's detachable.

I received this error trying to open my sd card from reader plugged into usb hub. I had no problem after plugging card reader directly into computer usb. On a different computer I could not open sd card from cameras with 2 different readers however the third brand of reader work normal.
