"The system cannot log you on now/domain unnavailable"

I get this error trying to log on from my xp client workstation after setting up a user account in server 2003 AD.

Yes the workstation has been added to the domain.

Created user in ADUC and in the "Profile Path: i put \\server-1\Profiles\jsmith

Logon script: jsmith.bat

The exception is i've got all my users profiles stored on the G:drive ; Profiles folder.

Do I have to add G:drive in the Profile Path:

G\\server-1\Profile\jsmith ....?

Also my administrator account can access the server/domain from an XP workstation without a problem.

Administrator account setup in ADUC/profile tab just has the Logon Script Admin.bat set to it, nothing else.

Been trying to resolve this issue for a week now, aaarrrrrgh.

I just reinstalled DCPROMO

by netforce In reply to "The system cannot log yo ...

This is a test lab anyway. Having dcpromo setup the DNS for me resolved a lot of problems i had previously.

After pointing the dns server to itself I ran dcdiag /q and nothing no errors. Life is great when DNS works.

Ok now I've got to add groups/users again in the AD and hopefully the client workstation will be able to logon to the domain without a domain errors.

Any tips/advice?
