The things kids notice

by notsochiguy . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

So, these past few weekends, I’ve watched a few movies with my daughter and niece.

Last weekend, we watched E.T., and this weekend, we watched Star Wars episodes 1 & 2.

When they got to the senate scene, my niece noticed that E.T. (well, his people, anyway) was a member of the senate. Her ensuing question threw me for a loop:

“Was E.T. a Jedi?”

At first, I thought she asked just to be funny, but she was serious. In thinking about it, she may have a point. E.T. demonstrated a level of telekinesis and psychic ability that seemed to be consistent with those of the Jedi.

But then again, E.T. also brought back to life a wilted flower. As far as the movies go (I haven’t read the Star Wars books, yet…once I’m finished with school in June, that is on my to do list…recommendations on where to start are welcome), bringing something back from death was a power only a Sith Lord had acquired.

So, there you have it: E.T. was a Sith Lord.

Thanks go out to my niece, for ruining both E.T. (the thought of E.T. as a bad guy is loathsome) and Star Wars (E.T. as Sith is about as cool as Ewoks over Wookies in ROTJ) for me.
