The Three Chipmunks

By Jack-M ·
I'm running Windows XP with SP2. In the 2 or 3 years I've had it I've been using Windows Media Player. Suddenly, in the last 2 or 3 days the singer in the music sounds like the 3 chipmunks.
On all songs. I played them in Real Player and the same thing happened. The background music plays fine but the voice is as I said in both
WMP and Real Player. Anyone got any ideas. It's driving me nuts. Anybody who can tell me how to fix this will win a free membership to The Three Cchipmunks fan club. And autographed pictures at no charge. A $1 value. Thanks for your time and attention. This is not a joke.

Reset the speed.

Be sure your phonograph is set for 33, not 45.

Sorry, I realize this is no help, but I've had a lousy day and couldn't resist it.

Palmetto Was Close...

In Windows Media Player (I'm using version 11), right click on the toolbar at the top, View, Enhancements, Play Speed Settings.

1 is normal.

Sounds like you need a Witch Doctor

A problem like that could keep you going round-and-round like a hula-hoop. But look at the bright side; at least it doesn't sound like a harmonica.

Since both WMP and RP have this problem, I would suspect driver problems. Go into Device Manager, uninstall all sound drivers, reboot, and reinstall the drivers from your CD backup (download them if you don't have them).

Letting Windows reinstall the drivers from the HD can often just reload the old corrupted drivers.
