The Trouble with XP Home

By fix_pctek ·
I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm trying to install my XP home editon onto my NT 4.0 PDC.
Since I sucessufully installed W2K, Xp-pro and 98 onto the PDC. I'm at a lost as to why I'm having trouble w/ Xp home edition. I did notice that, unlike my XP pro's System/Computer Name section, my Xp Home doesn't provide an option for the "Network ID" button (only the "Change" button appears in the System Properties, System/Computer Name section of Xp Home. Is this button missing from my XP Home or do I have to install it somehow? Thanks.

There is a reason that windoes XP HOME edition is titled that. That is one of the limitations of Windows xp Home, as well as not being able to remote desktop and more. So the answer to your question is it is impossible to add a Windows XP home machine to a Domain of any type.

XP HOME really means "HOME"

On purpose Microsoft removed the domain compabilities from XP Home so they can offer a more cost effective OS for Home Users
